Description
Chantilly cream is a classic French pastry base made with just three ingredients: fresh whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla.
Light, smooth, and airy, it is commonly used to fill and decorate cakes, profiteroles, éclairs, and pastries. It can also be served with desserts like apple strudel, plum cake, or even hot chocolate.
In Italy, it is sometimes confused with crema diplomatica (diplomat cream), but they are different: Chantilly is simply whipped cream, while diplomat cream is a mix of whipped cream and pastry cream.
Its name is believed to come from the Château de Chantilly in France, where it was first created in the 17th century.
