What is cube steak?
Cube steak is tender beef that’s pounded to create a cube-shaped pattern on its surface. If cube steak isn’t available, you can make a substitute using thicker, less tender cuts of meat, such as a steak or sirloin tip. To do this, place the meat between layers of plastic wrap and pound it with a meat mallet until it’s flattened and tender. Then use it in recipes as a substitute for cube steak, though the exact texture may vary.
