Recipe for Memaw’s Cathead biscuits.
CatHead Biscuits are named for their size… Big as a cat’s head. Mom always said her mother, my memaw, made them big so you could put a big slab of ham on it.
I remember memaw making them everyday. She used what looked like to me, a big round metal wash bowl. She kept it in a cupboard that always had flour in it.
2 cups self rising flour
1 to 2 Tablespoons of shortening (memaw used lard and mom did too)
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon salt
