Instructions
Prep & Preheat:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Cream Butter & Sugar:
In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3-4 mins).
Add Eggs & Vanilla:
Mix in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Alternate Wet & Dry:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture in three parts, alternating with milk. Begin and end with flour—mix just until smooth (don’t overmix).
Bake:
Pour batter into the prepared dish and smooth the top. Bake for 35–40 mins, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Make the Glaze:
While the cake bakes, whisk powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
Glaze the Cake:
As soon as the cake comes out of the oven, poke holes all over the top with a skewer or fork. Pour the glaze evenly over the hot cake, letting it soak in.
Cool & Serve:
Let cool slightly before slicing (if you can resist!). The glaze forms a sweet, delicate crust on top.
