1 tbsp tomato paste

1 tsp salt

Β½ tsp black pepper

Β½ tsp paprika

Β½ tsp dried thyme or dill (optional)

2 tbsp oil

For the sauce
2 cups crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce

1Β½ cups water or broth

1 tbsp tomato paste

1 tbsp sugar (optional, balances acidity)

Salt & pepper to taste
