Southern Pea Salad Classic

Instructions

A bowl of food with ham, eggs, and peas.

Mix base ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, combine sweet peas, chopped hard-boiled eggs, crumbled bacon or ham (if using), chopped onions, and shredded cheddar cheese.

Add seasonings:
Sprinkle in black pepper, salt, garlic powder, celery seeds or celery, and a dash of cayenne. Stir to distribute evenly.

Prepare dressing:
In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise and sour cream until smooth.

Combine and chill:
Pour dressing over the pea mixture and gently stir to coat everything well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Great as a BBQ side or potluck dish.

Adjust seasoning to taste or add diced pickles for a tangy twist.
