My Nana’s Bread-in-a-Bag Recipe

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large plastic bag, combine 1 cup of flour, sugar, yeast, and warm water. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to allow the yeast to activate.
Add Wet Ingredients: Add the remaining 2 cups of flour, olive oil, and salt to the bag. Seal the bag tightly.
Knead: Knead the dough inside the bag for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
Shape: Remove the dough from the bag and shape it into a loaf.
Rise: Place the shaped dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the risen dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
Cool: Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
Tips & Variations:

Add-ins: For extra flavor, add 1/4 cup of chopped nuts, dried fruit, or herbs to the dough.
Whole Wheat: Substitute 1 cup of all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
Different Shapes: Experiment with different shapes, such as rolls or braided loaves.
Enjoy your delicious homemade “Bread in a Bag”!
