Hawaiian BBQ Sauce

Instructions

Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for 3–4 minutes until softened and translucent.

Add diced jalapeño and grated ginger. Cook for about 2 minutes until fragrant.

Add pineapple, brown sugar, dry mustard, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, black pepper, pineapple juice, rum, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and molasses. Stir well to combine.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat. Simmer uncovered for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.

Transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
